Hi, I’m Babycakes, but my friends call me Sweet Cakes! I’m a 6-year-old, 45-pound Boxer / Black Mouth Cur mix with a heart as big as my smile. Cooper is a squishy boy who loves nothing more than pressing himself into your arms for big hugs. This handsome 4-year-old American Bulldog is incredibly smart! He received extensive professional training through Magic City K9, an organization that accepted Cooper into their unique program where he lived with his trainer at Everglades Correctional Facility in Miami, where inmates and dogs work together to build skills, confidence, and brighter futures. Thanks to this experience, Cooper has learned over 40 commands and truly enjoys using his brain. He made friends with many of the dogs in his training class, but a home as the only dog would be ideal for Cooper as he adjusts to a loving home after being in a shelter for several years. A kind police officer found Faith abandoned on the street a week before Christmas. This sweet senior girl was skin and bones and had a large prong collar hanging around her neck. Despite being neglected, Faith gave kisses to everyone she met when she arrived at Abandoned Pet Rescue. She has three uncomfortable lumps on her ear, stomach and foot that our veterinarian plans to remove once she gains weight because Faith's bloodwork looks very good for a 10-year-old pup. Do you remember the show Scooby Doo - well Peele could be that dogs stunt double! Peele is the sweetest Hound / Black Mouth Cur mix that's about 6-years-old. He is well-mannered and is friendly with everyone he meets including other dogs. Peele knows basic commands and is an easygoing boy that is looking for a comfy couch to chill by your side. Because of his size, a house would be ideal, but his mellow personality would be suitable for some apartments. Peele's story is one that shows the true devotion of a dog and human bond. He was living in the car with his owner for nearly a year which is not easy for 80lb dog. His mom was homeless and refused to move into housing that wouldn't allow her to bring Peele so she chose to stay with him in her car. Good samaritans, including one of our staff members, were trying to get Peele and his mom somewhere safe. Finally, Peele was able to come to Abandoned Pet Rescue and his owner found affordable housing. Peele is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped. Looking for a dog who’s part social butterfly, part lovable weirdo? Meet Peter Pan, the 8-year-old, 55lb pup who does jazz hands when he sees other dogs (yes, actual jazz hands). Peter has been charming humans for over three years at the shelter. He’s friendly and social, but it’s the little quirks in how he does everything that make him unforgettable. Rescued in 2022 from an overcrowded shelter where he was skin-and-bones and on the euthanasia list, he’s now thriving, starring on his own beer label at Gulf Stream Brewery, and perfecting his belly rub negotiation skills. His hobbies? Sunbathing like a total diva, rolling in the grass like he’s auditioning for a rom-com, and befriending everyone at the local bar. He’s dog-friendly when properly introduced to other dogs, but not all dogs enjoy his enthusiastic roughhousing. He is very calm in his kennel and well-behaved and he never barks. Hello, I'm Sampson. It's a delight to make your acquaintance. I hold the record for being the longest resident dog at Abandoned Pet Rescue. Spending almost six years in a shelter is quite a long time for a majestic 12-year-old German Shepherd like me. When I first arrived, I became protective of my kennel, and it takes me a while to trust new human friends. However, I have formed strong bonds with a few staff members and volunteers over the years who enjoy walking, training, and playing with me. I am in need of an experienced adopter who understands my quirks and protective, loyal nature, someone comfortable with my 100-pound size (that's a lot of charm!). I am seeking a soulmate in the South Florida area willing to invest time in getting to know me at the shelter before I transition to a new home. The shelter staff will demonstrate my leash-walking skills (I am even trained to wear a muzzle) and how quickly I pick up new tricks like speak, paw, and sit. Hi there! I’m Scraggles, a scruffy 6-year-old Labrador and Patterdale Terrier mix who weighs about 60 pounds. I would love a home with a yard, even a small one, so we can play fetch together.
