*LONG SHOTS*

December 31, 2022 by Larry

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

A long shot is a venture that has only the slightest chance of success. We want you to meet members of the APR *LONG SHOTS* program. You just need to meet these beautiful animals to see what joy they could bring to your life.  Give them a chance and you will receive countless rewards.

Meet BURRITA

Burritos…loved all over the world, sure they don’t have the flashiest exterior but inside…top-tier wonderfulness! Now Burrita is no plain tortilla but she’s not as “showy” as some of the other cats in the room so she tends to get overlooked. But like a Burrito, she’s soft, warm and full of loving goodness. She is estimated to be born in July 2011.

Say hi to CHRISTY

Christy was left at our shelter when she was a kitten years ago. She can be a little shy but sometimes she comes out and seeks affection from people. She gets overwhelmed in our room full of cats and her self-confidence is low due to this. We hope someone will come adopt her soon so she can be more comfortable and happy. She really is a sweet girl. Estimated to be born May 2013 and is around 10 pounds.

His name is FAT FACE

Fat Face is part of our “Long shot” program. He was inducted because if he didn’t have bad luck, he would have no luck at all. This poor guy’s owner abruptly moved away and abandoned FF all alone outside in the extreme heat with no food or water. Left to fend for himself, he stumbled upon a feral cat colony, was repeatedly attacked, wounded, and then contracted FIV. Feline Aids is a very treatable virus with a bad reputation. Most cats live long lives and just need a quiet, safe, indoor home. Fat Face, a Russian Blue, is a sweet, well-mannered gentleman who just needs a chill place to hang his hat. He’s a devoted companion, a good listener and an avid foodie. He doesn’t take up that much room on your couch or bed and is always willing to share slumber space. Fat Face promises to love, honor and mostly obey anybody who is willing to give him a second chance. We all need a break sometimes. Aren’t you grateful when someone offers you one? Please pay it forward to Fat Face. Fat Face is about 3 years old and hopes his luck will do an about face!

Howdy HARPER

Ever hear the song by Jeannie C Riley that goes a little like this…”The day my momma socked it to the Harper Valley PTA.” The song is about a feisty, sassy, strong woman who doesn’t take any nonsense and will let you know when she has had enough. Well, our Harper shares the same sentiment. She will be the first to greet and rub on you, but will go on her merry way, with a parting shot when you have worn out your welcome. She is a pretty, strong-willed girl who just needs a home to run and her own bed to nest in. Harper was born in 2015, is a bit chubby and insists that the camera adds 10 pounds to her profile pic.

She’s loveable LOLA

Her name is Lola. She wasn’t a showgirl or from Copacabana. But she is known to bat yellow feathers around the cat floor. Lola is a sweet, unassuming cat who is just waiting for her knight in shining armor, or in a buick, to come and whisk her away. If you remember disco, or just love tortie cats, cha cha on by to meet this legendary gal. Estimated date of birth June 2014, average weight 7-9 pounds.

Pronounce him PEPE LE PUE

Pepe has the reputation of being a little tough with the other cats. Just the other day, We spotted him sporting a red leather jacket and moonwalking from cat tree to cat tree yowling the lyrics to ‘Beat It’. Pepe didn’t have a rough start in life, but still embraces the “gangsta” life. We feel that in a home with less stimulation, he will reform his ways and change his mantra to “We Are The World.” Won’t you give this poor guy a chance? Consult your conscience and that “Man In The Mirror” and then rock on over to www.abandonedpetrescue.org to fill out an application. Pepe was born in 2014, weighs about 9 pounds, not too much less than the King of Pop.

Skampers thrives when receiving attention and is extremely friendly and ready for adventures. Don’t hesitate to bond with this adorable guy; he will be your new best friend. She’s the one and only ZIA

Zia is an extremely smart, special little girl and she knows it! She is very observant of her surroundings and acts like she’s starving all the time! If a bowl of food comes in the room she’s right there even though it’s not for her and she will be a brat about getting her way to have it. She can be so much fun, her favorite toy is a catnip stick that she purposely pushes it under the door to her room and will sit there until someone pushes it back in. She definitely has us humans trained! If you want some fun in your life come adopt Zia! Shes been here since she was a kitten and deserves a home of her own. Estimated to be born March 2016 and is 9-10 pounds.
