Many people ask, “how do I donate to APR?” This month we’re going to give you a list of creative ideas that we hope will include the right one for you.
A very popular program today is “Facebook Fundraisers.” Instead of receiving gifts for your birthday, anniversary or special occasion ask your Facebook Friends to make a donation to APR in honor of your celebration. Go to your Facebook Homepage, on the left you will find a section called “Explore” with a sub-category, “Fundraisers.” Click on that link and it will take you to a page to setup your fundraiser. Just remember to choose Abandoned Pet Rescue as your charity. You can set the amount you hope to raise and the time period. One little trick… if those you know are generous and you quickly achieve your monetary goal, think about going into the page again and raising that goal, which you can do, to increase donations.
Another great program we offer is the “Support-A-Pet program. It’s you chance to support the care of one of our many animals in need until they are adopted. Sponsorship is $100 per month and we ask for a one-year commitment. You can make your entire donation at one time or establish a recurring donation using our Network For Good link below.
Pick a dog or cat. We will create a special plaque for you at the shelter in support of “your support.” Pick the dog or cat from the adopt section of our web site, abandonedpetrescue.org and enter their name in the “designation” box when you make your Network For Good donation.

“Expanding Our Future… A Tile At A Time” is another wonderful APR program. APR built a new concrete wall as part of the expansion of the animal exercise area. You can provide your support by purchasing an engraved Metropolitan Quarry Wall tile in honor of your family, in memory of a loved one, a community volunteer, birthdays, weddings, graduations, anniversaries, your company or organization. It will be placed on this special wall. The cost if $100. Visit our web site, abandonedpetrescue.org and click on the donate circle at the top and find Memorial Wall Tiles in the dropdown. Print and fill out the form and send us your donation. We’ll notify you when your tile has been mounted.
Many people wish to support APR regularly with small recurring donations. You can sign up for that program using our “Network For Good” link above. It’s like PBS… $19 a month, $36 a month etc. You can start and end whenever you wish.
When you make a donation, of any amount, and you wish to remember someone just let us know. We will add your “Thanks and Dedications” to our web site so people will know of your special thoughts.
We also recognize donors who make a substantial commitment to APR as a partner in events or as an APR Angel, those who donate more than $5,000 a year.
And, of course, we are very grateful for your donation of items. Our “Wish List” of items is on the donate drop down on the web site. The #1 item we are always in need of is canned wet cat food.
Please remember that your can of cat food, your $1 donation or your substantial contribution are all special to us. After 23 years it remains a struggle to operate a no-kill animal shelter. But we are so thankful to all who offer their support. So, dig deep and try one of these programs or just click on one of our donate links or drop by the shelter with a few coins or a check.
