It was another gorgeous day on Miami Beach. Chip, Radar, Brie, Pumpkin, Griffin and Dreyfus were gathered, awaiting their call. Celebrity shooter, Sebastian Faena, was scouting the perfect location on the shore. Make up person…check. Wardrobe…check. Rising star models…check. “Abandoned Pet Rescue dogs…please come to the set!”
The “set” was a fabu photo shoot for Act 1 magazine, a pop up around Art Basel, owned by the NYC fashion staple, The Daily Front Row. Abandoned Pet Rescue and Miami’s Paws4You rescue were invited to showcase some of our adorable, adoptable pups, alongside young fashion royalty – Presley Gerber (son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber), Cami Marrone and Miles McMillan. The combined Instagram following of these hot models of the moment are 1.7 million, so APR was going to get some great exposure for the cause. And, better yet, these kids love dogs. Everyone on set did.
The day started at 10am and for the next two hours, our “crew” were cuddled, coddled and generally fawned over as Sebastian captured it all on camera.
The theme of the issue was Children Playing Evita and Saving Stray Dogs; Evita for following one’s dreams and saving strays…well, for love. The photos are stunning. Seems Sebastian was inspired by his cousin to dedicate the second issue of Act 1 to homeless dogs and his cousin ended up adopting one, as a result of the shoot. Full circle. Sebastian dedicated the issue to his departed dog, Luisa, sharing “To the 10 years I did little but enjoy my life next to her….”
Cami, Presley and Miles were lovely. Miles fell for Griffin, a senior Coonhound with enough spunk to hump a dog a quarter his age! Co-producer, Marcos Fecchino (who looked like one of the models, himself), was smitten with Chip, and posted a beautiful picture of the two of them on his Instagram page which, to date, has received over 2,800 likes.
The dogs were well behaved, everyone had fun and Chip, Radar, Brie, Pumpkin, Griffin and Dreyfus all had their 15 minutes of fame. Except, to us, they are all superstars, all the time.
