Our Pets, People and Places begins this month with a challenge to each one of you. The challenge is to find a forever home during 2023 for the 5 dogs and the 5 cats who have lived at APR the longest.
There are reasons that each of them remains but none of those reasons can’t be overcome with love, special training or treatment and the willingness of someone to take a chance.
The 10 cats and dogs are:

Lexington – 10 years old – Arrived at APR March 2013
Whisper – 9 years old – Arrived at APR June 2013
Harvey – 9 years old – Arrived at APR June 2013
Christy – 9 years old – Arrived at APR September 2013
Sampson – 9 years old – Arrived at APR October 2018
Nana – 3 years old – Arrived at APR December 2020
Hurricane –7 years old – Arrived at APR January 2021
Scraggles – 3 years old – Arrived at APR June 2021
Sammy – 2 years old – Arrived at APR June 2021
Each month between now and the end of the year we will introduce you to the 10 dogs and cats and tell you their story, one at a time. If you are looking for a new member of your family, there will be no more loving cat or dog in this group.

Burritos…loved all over the world, sure they don’t have the flashiest exterior but inside…top-tier wonderfulness! Now Burrita is no plain tortilla but she’s not as “showy” as some of the other cats in the room so she tends to get overlooked. She’s skittish around people. But like a Burrito, she’s soft, warm and full of loving goodness. Come and visit this bundle of fun, watch her roll around and give her some belly rubs!

By the way… Thank you to the Petfinder Foundation for awarding Abandoned Pet Rescue the 2022 Orvis Dog Enrichment Grant for $1,000 enabling APR to purchase enrichment supplies for our dogs while they wait for forever homes.
APR’s longest dog resident Sampson received an XL Kuranda bed while all the dogs in our care received durable toys to keep them entertained and happy. A new radio was purchased for both dog kennels to play calming music and Scraggles, whose favorite activity is fetch, received a tennis ball launcher.
