APR CURB APPEAL… APR Board Member and artist Jeanne Dawson-Lalli commissioned artistMarie Franco to create a new mural on the front of our adoption center with curating assistance from Maxence Doytier. Adoptable cats & dogs were the muse for Franco’s stunning work of art. To see more of Franco’s talent, follow Marie Franco Art on social media or drive by Abandoned Pet Rescue – 1137 NE 9th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale
YARD APPEAL – Happy 25th Wedding Anniversary to APR volunteer Judy Hetlage & Kennon Hetlage who celebrated this special milestone by giving back to our shelter dogs. The couple renovated two play yards including repairing the turf, painting the walls and commissioning artist Kristine Morell to paint two bright, beautiful murals for visitors to enjoy.
LARGE KENNEL REPAIRS – Volunteer Max Poux purchased and installed new boards in the large dog kennels to help keep the dogs safe and calm by blocking their views of the other dogs. Max comes weekly to walk dogs and socialize cats so he will be deeply missed when he moves away this month.
KITTEN KABOODLE – A cat room has been transformed into APR’s new Kitten Caboodle room thanks to recent renovations completed by shelter manager Cheryl Benca and team member Mike Maloney. Adopters and visitors see this room right when they enter the shelter’s lobby and are enjoying meeting all the playful kittens.
We’ll be having a grand opening for the KITTEN KABOODLE with kitty shower and more coming up in early October. Stay tuned and we hope you will join us.
