This month we want to provide special recognition in several areas. First to Chesi and Addison Williams. Their decision to adopt Jude, a bull terrier mix who suffers from Cerebellar Hypoplesia is one of the truly selfless and loving acts of kindness.
The story began in September 2020 when long time APR volunteer Don Anderson saw an ad of Craigslist for a puppy that could not walk. Jude was six weeks old at the time. Don pursued the ad and brought the dog into APR’s life. Don fostered Jude for the first eight months of his life while he learned to walk and navigate with his condition.
Jude’s disease is a condition in which the portion of the brain that controls motor skills, balance, and coordination fails to properly develop.
In July 2021 Don passed away unexpectedly and Jude came to live at the shelter. Our amazing network of volunteers stepped up taking Jude on lots of sleep overs and dates. Many people expressed interest in Jude, but no one was a right fit for this special boy. That is until April 2022 when an adoption application came in from Chesi and Addison Williams. The Williams’, including their dog Dexter, spent time with Jude and it was obvious that he found his forever family.
After a few weeks the final commitment was made. Jude headed off to his new home. The front desk at APR is a lot quieter now that Jude has left us, but the staff and volunteers are feeling such a great sense of satisfaction that their efforts paid off. Once again, APR proves that there IS a home for every dog and cat.
Start your review of our animals available for adoption and fill out the application. We work by appointment only and will call to arrange a convenient time for you to visit the shelter.
Second, we want to provide special recognition to our APR ANGELS… those who have made substantial contributions to Abandoned Pet Rescue during a year. It is, in part, through their support that we continue to build a thriving long-lasting organization.
Thank you to our 2021 APR ANGELS.
