Cooper is excelling in the Magic City K9 prison dog training program in Miami, Florida. Once his training is complete, Cooper will be certified as an American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen, meaning he will know sit, stay, down, come, heeling on lead, waiting at doorways, not jumping on people and going to his kennel or bed on command plus even more competition level obedience. Two months ago, this 2-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier was left tied up at Abandoned Pet Rescue, and despite being abandoned, Cooper is the sweetest dog! A kind volunteer named Lee helped Cooper get accepted into the Magic City K9 program, which is a non-profit organization that trains inmates at Everglades Re-Entry & Everglades Correctional Institute to train dogs that are rescued from shelters. Cooper has been living at the prison with his trainer and thriving in the program, so he’ll be ready to find his forever home soon.
