In October of 2017, I met a volunteer at a hotel where I was staying while Irma was going over South Florida. She told me Bronx’s story. I have always been reticent going into shelters or rescues because I thought I couldn’t take it. I didn’t want to see dogs at their “lowest” point, abandoned, left behind and in cages…. For some reasons, Bronx’s story touched me and I drove to Abandoned Pet Rescue the very next day to meet Bronx. I haven’t left since.
After almost a year of working along with staff, volunteers and the help of my wonderful friends Linda and Jessica, Bronx has acquired confidence, awesome skills and learned how to deal with his anxiety and how to cope with the stress he is exposed to on a daily basis. We gave him tools to be able to deal with fear and how to handle things which would have usually set him up for failure, or a bite…
Well….I’m glad to say that we have found a home suitable to his needs. His new family picked him up on Saturday August 25th ,and drive him to his new home. They are extremely prepared and knowledgeable and have been following his progress since day one. I am happy beyond belief to see that hard work and lots of love has paid off.
Last but not least, a gazillion thanks to Abandoned Pet Rescue (Barb DeMott) and all their employees and volunteers, as well as the board, to have kept him safe and alive during these past 6 years. He wouldn’t be around today without them.
From the bottom of my heart, Thank you… Maruska Prochazka
No words to express our love and gratitude to Maruska for helping Bronx learn to trust, love and prepare to be adopted! Because of Maruska and a few other dedicated people, Bronx now has a chance at a forever home and wonderful life. Bronx is an amazing dog and now has a family to share his love and life! Thank you Maruska!!! Barb DeMott
Bronx has left the building! Hooray for Bronx!
Bronx with his new dad, about to depart. After 6 years of living at the shelter, he’s going home with the people who sponsored his training and enrichment over the last year. They just couldn’t leave him behind. Bronx and everyone who adores him have nothing to worry about now and only good news to hear. Safe travels to them!
