As we enter the New Year, we want you to know how grateful we are to our adopters for creating forever homes for the thousands of pets that have come through the shelter. The adoption process at Abandoned Pet Rescue takes a little time, but remember our goal is creating forever homes, so it is important to match people carefully with the animals that interest them.
Visit our web site, abandonedpetrescue.org. Search our adoptable cats and dogs to begin one of the most rewarding journeys of giving a homeless pet a forever home.
Due to COVID-19, APR’s adoption process has changed. Please fill out an adoption application online https://abandonedpetrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/ for the pet you are interested in meeting or adopting. An APR team member will contact you to schedule an appointment to visit the adoption center to meet the pet in person as well as see other pets that may be a wonderful match.
Please note that APR does not do same day adoptions and takes multiple applications on each pet, in an effort to best match pets and families. You must be 22 years old to adopt and provide a valid driver’s license or a legal form of identification.
An adoption counselor will help you find the kind of pet you are looking for; one that is a good fit for your home, family and lifestyle. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and spend time with the animal or animals you are interested in adopting.
If you have other animals living in your home, a meet and greet may be arranged to determine whether the animals will get along. APR does reserve the right to do home checks.
Once your adoption application has been approved, a date will be scheduled for you to take your new pet home.
Included in the adoption fee, each animal is examined by the shelter veterinarian and spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for common illnesses and given flea/tick preventatives. Animals with on-going medical conditions will be provided with medication and a checkup visit if needed.
Adoption Fees
Kittens $75
Puppies $175
Cats over one year $60
Dogs over a year old $150

After the adoption, APR may contact you to see how the adoption is going. APR is available to answer any questions you may have.
Please join our Facebook Alumni page @Abandoned Pet Rescue Alumni to share pictures and updates of your new pet.
If for any reason your newly adopted pet is not the best match for you, we require that the animal be returned to APR. We ask that you give advance notice as APR may be able to assist you with keeping the pet or will need to make arrangements within the shelter.
So, lets make 2022 the best year ever, find you your new soul mate and work to reduce the abandoned pet population.
